SKYLINE IN THE SERVICE OF AVIATION IN IT'S 23RD YEAR

The Aviation Educational Activities of THE SKYLINE AVIATION CLUB had started on October 15th, 1987 under the name of The Indian Aviation Academy with a grand function inaugurated by Veteran lady Pilot Dr. Prabhavati Dixit (who broke the National Record to acquire Private Pilot's License at the age of 65) on the eve of the 55th Civil Aviation Anniversary of India.

The Inauguration function was organized under the banner of The Fly High Aviation Club supported by Youth Hostel Association of India, Bardoli Unit, under able guidance of the then president Dr. Rajeev Rane. Since inception the Club was involved in Aviation Educational Activities such as Aeromodelling, Aviation Awareness Programs, Private Pilot's License (Hobby) Ground Training Course, Ham Radio, etc. for the benefits of students of Schools and Colleges. The Club was able to conduct weekend courses at St. Joseph High School, Malad, Mumbai for preparing students to qualify for written examinations of Indian Private Pilot's License (PPL) and Amateur Radio Wireless License. During November 12th, 1990 to June 21st, 1992, under the banner of The Indian Aviation Academy the Club was able to prepare 332 students for PPL exams and 139 students for Amateur Radio Wireless License Exams without pecuniary interest.

In June 1992 The Managing Committee approached D.G.C.A. Govt. of India, for necessary clearance for professional courses. It was found that another organization by the name Indian Aviation Academy was already existing in New Delhi and that organization was already cleared by D.G.C.A. and hence the Managing Committee was compelled to shift Educational Activities of The Indian Aviation Academy under the new name viz. "The Skyline Aviation Club" w .e. f. June 22nd 1992 in order to obtain the necessary clearance from the Government of India.

On August 19th, 1992 the Government registered The Skyline Aviation Club and from April 14th, 1993 besides other courses, the Club was able to introduce Commercial Pilot's License Courses as per the syllabus of D.G.C.A. Govt. of India and FAA, Govt. of USA. On November 28th, 1995 the office and classroom of the club were shifted from Malad to present address at Borivali. During 23 years i.e. From Foundation day October 15th, 1987 to Oct. 15th, 2009 The Skyline Aviation Club has trained more than 3000 students for the following courses:

DETAILED INTRODUCTION :-
The Skyline Aviation Club is registered by the Government and governed under Indian Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. The Club is the first and only one Aviation Training Organization of its kind in India to provide Aviation careers information, guidance and coaching for Pilot's Theoretical Written Examinations conducted by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Civil Aviation Department, Govt. of India and Federal Aviation Administration, US Department of Transportation, Govt. of USA along with special coaching in Telecommunications courses like
(i) COP/RT (R) - Flight Radio Telephone License
(ii) Wireless Telegraphy for Instrument Rating
(iii) Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Operator (HAM) Licenses under the Club License Vide # 22623 VU2ADO issued by Ministry of Communication, the Government of India.

The Skyline Aviation Club is an independent, non-government, non-profit, organization solely existing for providing classroom coaching to prepare eligible candidates for various pilot's licenses, oral/written examinations conducted by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Wireless Planning and Co-ordination Wing, Department of Telecommunications, Govt. of India as per letter No. AV-22011/11/93-FG dated 04-08-94 of DGCA, Civil Aviation Department, Government of India stating non-requirement of grant of approval for Ground School (Theoretical Coaching for Written Examinations) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Govt. of USA under FAA certified pilot's ground instructor, US Department of Transportation, FAA, USA; working in a similar manner as other Aviation training organizations in India
except for practical flight training. The Skyline Aviation Club provides practical flight training through its affiliated Flying Clubs and Flight Training Institutes in India and foreign countries.

As the Government of India privatizes the aviation sector under "Open Sky Policy", Civil Aviation activity in our country is expanding with a number of new airlines, training institutions, aircraft manufacturers etc. which demands a large number of well-trained personnel like Pilots, Flight Dispatchers, Radio officers, Airhostesses, Flight Pursers, Ground Hostesses, and Traffic Assistants etc. for its operation. Pilots play a highly pivotal role in modern aviation. Today's sophisticated modern airplanes demand that a pilot's training program must have thorough and specialized theoretical (ground) training before a trainee adjusts herself / himself in a tiny cockpit with many instruments around him / her which will be a small flying classroom with high speed and less time to learn complex lessons. Responding to this requirement and to benefit trainees under practical flight training or prospective pilots about to join Flying Clubs or college-going students planning to make a career as pilots and wanting to finish the Aviation Ground Training Career Course while in college, The Skyline Aviation Club has programmed full-time and part-time ground training courses for Professional Pilot's Licenses as well as Hobby Flying Licenses along with other training courses.

As on Oct. 15th, 2006 the Club had provided Aviation Theory (Ground) training to 638 trainee commercial pilots, of whom 262 are trained for Indian Commercial Pilot's License and 376 trained for American Commercial Pilot's Certificate. With the guidance and help of the Club, many of them have
already obtained their commercial pilot's licenses and were able to join Airlines as pilots. After completion of classroom theoretical training, students are required to appear for written examinations conducted by the Govt. of India or Govt. of USA and undergo practical training at one of the Practical
Flight Training Institutes / Clubs in India, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or U.K. The Club maintains records of successful students.

The Club also conducts coaching / training camps of short duration for various aero sports activities like (i) Hang Gliding, (ii) Powered Hang Gliding, (iii) Para Sailing, (iv) Paragliding (v) Para plane (vi) Aero modelling in association with other professional organizations / experts during weekend
holidays and vacations.

The Club has benefited more than a lakh students, parents and hundreds of educational & social organisations with latest free information and guidance on various aviation careers and hobbies through free career guidance seminars & air shows conducted at various schools & colleges

The Club is proud of serving our motherland by extending co-operation in presenting valuable information and Memorandum of Agreement of INTERNATIONAL AIR CADET EXCHANGE ASSOCIATION (IACEA) Great Britain, to the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India for making our country
